Religious Changes

New Gods enter Ys:

Christian traders endow the church in the former Temple of Mars;

some men think that it was Mithras, not Taranis, Who appeared in battle;

Zeugit, landlord of the Green Whale, knows that change is in the air but does not seek Mithras because it would harm his business;

Gratillonius refuses Mithraic initiation to Nodens because the Romans would persecute an apostate and because each man should stand by his God as long as that One is good to him;

the courtesan Taltha stays with the Goddesses;

Maeloch says that each should do what he thinks is right and that he will abide with the old Gods and thus keep faith with the dead.

Maeloch is traditionalist but tolerant: Church of England if he were here now.

Kaor, Paul!

I'm not sure you were correct about Taltha, the three dominant gods Ys included only one female among them, Belisama/Ishtar.

She also mentions Banba and Epona as separate entities on p. 199.

Kaor, Paul!

Aha! Gotcha. They would be examples of minor gods.
