I also thought of the sky illumination of the Imperial banner which we see in Chapter 1 of ENSIGN FLANDRY at the Coral Palace. The flag of the Empire seems to have been a stylized sunburst on a royal blue field. Which was reproduced as a sky illumination as part of the celebrations of Emperor Georgios' birthday.

Anytime! Quite often, I've seen mention of the sunburst as an Imperial symbol.
