I clicked on the links you provided to see how kayaking applied to this blog piece and I was a bit puzzled because I did not the "point." But I think you just wanted to vary things a bit. Nothing wrong with that!
I did read my earlier comments about the Norse Greenland colony where I thought Poul Anderson dated its decline and impoverishment a century too soon. I regretfully concluded he made a mistake there!

My point in the original post, dated 20 July 2016, was just that I like to summarize unusual information and references provided by Anderson. Chris Cole seems to have appreciated the fact that I referenced info about kayaking.
